Our Story
Elim Assembly of God is a sterling example of what God can do when a handful of godly women come together to pray.
It all began in 1984, in a prayer meeting. Five women led by Mrs Lillykutty Thomas decided to meet regularly to intercede for their friends, neighbours, and their nation. The other four members of this group were Saroja M, Saramma George, Philomena. M, and Philomena. R. All but Saroja and Saramma have since gone to be with the Lord.
Lillykutty was the former Chief Nursing Supervisor at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. She was instrumental in leading several coworkers to the faith. Despite her busy schedule, she found time to organize prayer meetings at her home. Many people continue to “find shelter” in her home.
In 1992, she lost all her possessions. That very year, God gave her a plot of land in a good residential area — the AECS Layout in Bangalore. During the ground breaking ceremony, she dedicated that land to Almighty God and prayed that God would use that land to be like Bethel, the house of God. In 2006, in answer to prayers, ELIM AG PRAYER CENTRE was founded under the leadership of her son-in-law, the Rev. Shaji Idiculla.
On February 2, 2018, our dear “Mummy” (as she was fondly called by many) was promoted to glory. She went to be with her Lord. Though she rests from her labor, her work continues. As the candle that burns itself out to give light to many, her years of labor, sacrifice, and steadfast prayer paved the way for many to come and seek the Lord, be blessed, and delivered at ELIM AG PRAYER CENTRE.
1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
